Volunteer with us
Are you an animal lover seeking a rewarding volunteer experience?
Our volunteers support every area of Butler County Humane Society. You will make a tremendous difference in the lives of the animals in our care. Filling out a volunteer application is the first step in becoming a volunteer here. Before anyone can start volunteering, they must attend this one-time orientation. Here, you will learn the basics of volunteering and receive training to handle dogs or cats.
As a small non-profit organization, we truly appreciate our dedicated volunteers. When you become a volunteer, you join our team, representing the Butler County Humane Society to the public and helping us care for the animals at the shelter. Whether you work directly with the animals or assist with other tasks around the shelter, everything you do has a positive impact on our shelter and the animals. We simply couldn't do it all without our volunteers!
Age Guidelines:
All volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who has completed the volunteer orientation as well.
The minimum age to volunteer is 16.

Community service
At Butler County Humane Society, the primary difference between community service and volunteering is an external obligation to complete a set number of service hours. This could be in relation to something court-ordered or as a school requirement. Community service typically involves cleaning and shelter upkeep such as mopping floors, washing dishes, and assisting the shelter employees with tasks like taking out the trash or keeping things organized. Community service associates may not have direct contact with the shelter animals. Community service opportunities are currently available. If you need to perform community service and you are interested in doing it here, apply below.
